Costumed interpreter, Brittany Martin, will bring to life Edmonia Highgate, the first Teacher of Hosanna School. Hailing from Syracuse, New York, Miss Highgate brought her faith, fearlessness, and fiery spirit to Harford County to start a school in the midst of a raging Civil War.

About the Event
Between February and June, Hosanna will feature leading storytellers from the region to share relevant stories inspired by the African American experience in a Sestercentennial Storytelling Series that will be presented monthly. The Series will feature one storyteller per month and culminate in the final performances at our Upper Bay Juneteenth Festival 2023.
